SPORT & WELLBEING IN EASTBOURNE
The historic flint walls of The Saffrons contain 18 acres of sports grounds in the heart of the town. We’re home to some of Eastbourne’s longest standing sports clubs and an integral part of the town’s rich heritage.
Now, we are preparing to kick-start an exciting rejuvenation at The Saffrons. We have a vision for new sports and commercial opportunities to secure the future of sport here for generations to come.
We are focused on creating scope for more sports, fitness and wellbeing organisations to use and enjoy this unique space. To enable residents to enjoy a variety of health and wellbeing activities in an easily accessible part of the town, and to remain the home of team sports.
This summer, we look forward to opening a new padel tennis facility. Our longer-term plans also include a refresh and enhancement of The Saffrons Clubhouse and the creation of a new space for people to come together and socialise with the introduction of ‘Saffrons Yard’.

Our MEMBER Clubs
EASTBOURNE CRICKET CLUB
One of Sussex’s Premier Cricket Clubs, Eastbourne CC plays its home fixtures at the Saffrons throughout the summer. The Club runs 4 senior Saturday sides, a Women’s XI, a midweek T20 team, a thriving junior section, and Forward Drive, a free junior program for 4-9 year olds.
EASTBOURNE HOCKEY CLUB
The Hockey Club make use of the Saffrons astro pitch throughout the Autumn and Winter months. The club hosts matches at the Saffrons for its multiple Men’s, Women’s and Junior teams, as well as regular social events, at the the weekends, and training sessions during the week.
EASTBOURNE TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB
The oldest senior Football Club in Sussex, Eastbourne Town have played their home matches at the Saffrons since the ground’s founding in 1886. Now playing in the Southern Combination Premier League, the Club runs 4 teams from U18s and pulls in healthy crowds to every home game.
